How it works

These resources were created after consulting with practicing teachers and senior Ministry of Education staff. Move 4 Maths is not designed to replace your current Maths curriculum, but to complement the existing processes and approaches you have in place.

At the top of each page, you will see the Maths learning area, year group and progress outcome each resource teaches to.

Visual aids are provided alongside the equipment and set-up requirements. Consider what you have available in your school and adapt the equipment and set-up as necessary. Move 4 Maths is also not designed to be a prescriptive programme. Teachers can adapt and tailor the set-up and delivery of this bank of active learning resources, considering the needs of their tamariki and what is available to their school in terms of space, equipment etc.

Enabler and extender options are provided for each resource, to cover a range of ability levels.

Assessment and reflection opportunities are woven throughout the bank of resources, including ideas for formative and summative assessment.

Finally, worksheet templates and teaching resources are provided on following pages, to cut down on planning and preparation time and to guide students through their learning.
